APU Authentic Buffet and Events Place

The Korea Town in Angeles City has been known as a strip filled with restaurants offering the same, repetitive unlimited samgyeopsal buffets.  That’s why it was a breath of fresh air to know that there is a place to go to for those who want to have authentic and classic Filipino cuisine.

APU is an all-Filipino buffet and events place that opened its new location in Friendship Hi-Way, Angeles City.  This is the second branch of the well acclaimed restaurant and also the first outside Metro Manila.  Its main branch is located in City of Dreams which has been operating since 2015.

APU Authentic Filipino Buffet

APU Authentic Filipino Buffet‘s interior is sophisticated and very classy.  From the entrance, you will be ushered into a bright, spacious dining area.  The different buffet stations are ideally placed on the center.  The restaurants’ contemporary interior design is made evident with its high ceiling, soft lights, chandeliers, and accents that simply speaks elegance.  On the second floor you’ll find an area for private functions.

We learned that the restaurant owner was close to her grandmother thus she fittingly named the restaurant as ‘apu‘ which translates to ‘grandmother’ in the local language.  The dishes offered in the buffet also pays homage to traditional Capampangan and Filipino dishes that our grandmothers and mothers cook at home.

The main dishes we had during our visit included classic favorites such as kare-karesisig matua, and dinuguan.  They even had tuyo (dried fish) with ebun buru (salted egg) and tomatos.  There were also grilled fish with buro (fermented rice).  For dessert, traditional recipes were spotted that included suman bulagta, kakanin, sampelot, buco pandan and fresh fruits.  The beverages included in the buffet were fresh buko juice, sago’t gulaman, lemonade water and iced tea.

APU Authentic Filipino Buffet

We definitely loved the elegant ambiance of APU Authentic Filipino Buffet.  It is not an ordinary buffet restaurant that are often chaotic and messy.  APU‘s ambiance is elegant yet relaxing.  The stations are kept clean and organised.  As an advocate for keeping the heirloom recipes preserved, I loved that the Capampangan and Filipino dishes in the buffet were cooked traditionally and not twisted into something different.  They were simple yet flavourful.  These are the dishes that reminds you of home-cooked meals that your apu or ima has prepared.

We highly recommend APU Authentic Filipino Buffet especially for dining families and groups.  For just a few pesos more, APU is a better option compared to the usual samgyeopsal places you’ll see around the area.  For the ambiance and its good food, APU is definitely one of our top buffet places in Angeles City.
